Who has to register
Every taxable person in the UAE must register for Corporate Tax with the Federal Tax Authority — mainland companies, Free Zone companies and branches of foreign companies alike. Registration is not linked to how much you earn: a company with no profit, a loss, or dormant status still registers. Natural persons running a business register once turnover passes AED 1 million in a calendar year.
- Deadline check against your licence issue date — before it becomes a penalty
- EmaraTax account creation and company profile setup
- Complete application preparation and submission to the FTA
- Free Zone / QFZP status assessment before you register
- Follow-up with the FTA until the Corporate Tax TRN is issued
- First tax period, filing deadline and record-keeping setup
The deadline is the expensive part
The FTA set registration deadlines according to the month your trade licence was originally issued, and missing that date triggers a flat AED 10,000 administrative penalty — separate from any tax due. Free Zone companies expecting the 0% qualifying rate are not exempt from this. If your deadline has already passed, register now to stop further exposure and we can review whether a penalty reconsideration is worth filing.
Why applications get delayed
Most delays come from mismatched ownership percentages between the licence and the MOA, an address that does not match the tenancy contract, or an authorised signatory without proper authority documents. We check these before submission, so your Corporate Tax TRN is issued the first time round.
